Her Story
Hi, I'm Rosa.
Rosa began her musical journey in fourth grade in Salina, KS, where she picked up the viola and never put it down. She moved to California to study music at Cabrillo College in Aptos, where she earned her AA in Music with Honors and spent years gaining hands-on teaching experience in the Cabrillo College/Suzuki Strings Program.
She served as a Teaching Assistant for Sue Brown's Introduction to Music Theory and Beginning/Intermediate Orchestras from 2017â2021, and taught beginning strings at the El Sistema program at Gault Elementary.
After graduating, Rosa transferred to San Jose State University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2021. During her time at SJSU she assisted with The SJSU String Project, giving music education majors supervised teaching experience with elementary and middle school students.
As a performing musician, Rosa has appeared with chamber groups, symphonic and string orchestras, mariachi ensembles, local children's musical theater productions, The Cabrillo Stage, and with Pasquale Esposito.
Today she serves as the Upper Strings Teaching Artist for YOSAL and the String Methods Instructor at Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory School in Santa Cruz, CA â and she takes private students in Watsonville.
