Violin Lessons · Santa Cruz, CA
Suzuki-based private violin, viola, and cello lessons at Rosa's home studio in Watsonville — about 20 minutes down Highway 1 from Santa Cruz.
Why Santa Cruz Families Drive to Watsonville
If your child goes to school in Santa Cruz, there's a good chance Rosa is already part of their musical world. She is the String Methods Instructor at Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory School, where she works with Santa Cruz students every week — so families from the Westside, Eastside, and Seabright aren't meeting a stranger when they come to her studio. They're continuing with a teacher their kids may already know by name. She previously taught in the El Sistema program at Gault Elementary in Santa Cruz as well. Her training is local too: she earned her AA in Music with Honors at Cabrillo College — the community college serving all of Santa Cruz County — where she also served as a Teaching Assistant for the Cabrillo Suzuki Strings Program.
Her private studio is at her home in Watsonville, roughly a 20-minute drive down Highway 1 from most Santa Cruz neighborhoods. Parents tell her the drive is worth it: one-on-one lessons with a Suzuki-certified instructor who has spent 10+ years teaching, 30 years playing viola, and 10+ years playing violin are hard to find this close to home. Lessons are tailored to each student — from a four-year-old's first Twinkle to an adult picking the instrument back up, and every audition-prep teen in between.
Booking is simple and personal: request a lesson through the booking form, and Rosa replies herself to confirm your spot. Se habla español — Spanish-speaking families are warmly welcomed.
Instruments
Most Santa Cruz students come for violin — and Rosa teaches it at every level. Viola and cello students get the same one-on-one care.
Rosa's Suzuki certification (Books 1–4), 10+ years of teaching, and 10+ years playing violin make her violin studio a natural fit for Santa Cruz beginners and advancing players alike — from Wee Violin for little ones to college-prep repertoire.
Rosa's own instrument, played for 30 years. Warm, rich tone and a teacher who knows the viola repertoire inside and out — a wonderful path for students who want something distinctive.
Deep, resonant, and expressive. Rosa brings chamber and ensemble performance experience to every cello lesson at her Watsonville home studio.
